Miley asked: She smells even after her bath!
The vet said that it was no big deal and gave me a non-smell shampoo.

you might want to talk to your vet.
she might have a skin condition that needs special shampoos

Plug her nostrils.
Don’t do it, though, that would be inhumane.

take your dog to the vet. your pet may have a skin condition, like a fungus, or an infection, or something else. they can tell you what to do and what to use to help. when in doubt call your vet.

She probably has something wrong like a yeast infection, staff infection or allergies. You might want to check were the smell is coming from… could be an ear infection Go see your vet.

Do consult a vet–the odor could be coming from her skin, ears, teeth, or elsewhere.

It might have something to do with his diet….you may want to change his food brand to another.

I agree it might be her diet. Dalmatians digestive systems are actually more similar to humans than other dogs. If your dal is getting a high protein food you should switch her to another brand that doesn’t have so much meat in it. You wouldn’t want to be eating red meat every day so don’t do it to your dalmatian. Too much protein causes bladder stones in dalmatians.

I would take her to the vet she may have a skin condition that make her smell bad and it may also be because of her diet as well but go to your vet and ask what she should be eating

wash it at least once a month. not too much you may iritate the dogs skin. groom it a lot. Wash only if u really need too.

I might try taking her to see another vet. Just for another opinion it could be a skin thing! My Aunt had a Golden that was just plain stinky!!!!

Take her to a different vet, second opinions are always good. Or try a scented shampoo.

maybe her anal glands need to be expressed?
December 18th, 2008 at 3:57 pm
Your vet is correct. Some breeds smell. Beagles, Bassets, Coonhounds, are some of the doggier ones. It’s usually the short haired ones. They need more oils to protect their skins.

Some breeds just naturally have a ‘doggie’ odor & there really isn’t any way to change that. Now if you had a Poodle, Miniature Schnauzer or a Bichon Frise you wouldn’t have the problem, plus the fact these breeds don’t shed & are hypo-allergenic. Also, I don’t know what you are feeding your Dal, but you can try different brands of food - dry food only, canned food isn’t good & is bad for the teeth.
